The System Integration and Test LPT Lead will design, develop, test, and evaluate products in the area of chemical detection, specifically mass spectrometry, by applying knowledge in engineering and chemistry. The lead will plan, research, analyze, synthesize, design experiments, and provide interpretation of data to support product development activities, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and improvement of analytical methodologies. The lead will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating designs for improving performance or other factors and obtaining data to support product development activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develops and tests new products, applying knowledge of engineering and chemistry.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams and vendors to define, design and deliver new products, technical solutions, and enhancements that work cohesively and meet the needs of the company, its clients, and the end users.
Directs and supports tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate approaches for improving performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development, standardization, and quality control.
Analyzes indicated and calculated test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives, and modifies or adjusts equipment to meet specifications within strict configuration control guidelines.
Develops and conducts testing plans and procedures based on performance specifications, procedures and objectives.
Develops work plans and estimates as they relate to systems integration work tasks and team members
Guides the team in the Interpretation of data and ensures adherence to strict guidelines on documentation when recording data.
Determines conditions under which tests are to be conducted and sequences and phases of test operations.
Directs and exercises control over operational, functional, and performance phases of tests.
Confers with scientific, engineering, and technical personnel to resolve testing problems, such as product or systems malfunctions, incomplete test data, and data interpretations considering such factors as conditions under which test was conducted and instrumentation, procedures, and phase of test used to obtain and record data.
Analyzes and interprets test data and prepares technical reports for use by engineering and management personnel.
Analyzes the chemical nature and make-up of substances using a variety of modern analytical techniques, methods, and high technology instrumentation.
Determines nature of technical problems and possible solutions, such as product redesign, substitution of material or parts, or rearrangement of parts or subassemblies.
Maintains awareness of and remains up to date with health and safety issues in all aspects of the testing undertaken.
Communicates test results to stakeholders and key customers.
Supports on site testing at customer sites for extended periods of time to support product development activities.
May attend tradeshows, technical conferences and symposiums to promote the product.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- understanding of chemistry and engineering principles
- direct experience in direction testing activities related in support of product development
- aptitude for, and interest in instrument design and product development
- direct experience with instrumentation specifically mass spectrometry
- oral and written communication skills
- analytical and problem-solving ability
- Must be able to work as part of a team
3-5 years experience in a similar role; BS in engineering, chemistry or similar field
This position requires that the candidate be willing and able to complete a successful background screening for a security clearance. Candidates with an active security clearance will receive preference.
Lead will be responsible for directing a team of chemists, engineers, and quality assurance personnel in the execution of integration and test activities.
Signature Science offices maintain regular business hours on weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. local time. This position may require irregular hours, to include work on weekends or after regular business hours.
This position will require domestic travel up to 50%.
