Education: B.S. or M.S. in molecular biology, microbiology, clinical laboratory sciences, genetics, microbial ecology or microbial genomics

Years of experience: 0-5+ years


Required Skills:

Candidates must have the following:

  • Demonstrated ability to perform laboratory analyses using common molecular biological techniques (e.g., DNA sequencing, western blot, ELISA, DNA extraction, cloning)
  • Ability to provide technical input and independently carry out tasks in a molecular biology laboratory
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and abilities
  • Comprehensive understanding of current and emerging bioanalytical tools and techniques
  • Ability to help grow the biological sciences business area through the successful and timely execution of projects, positive interactions with clients, recognition of opportunities for follow-on work with existing clients, establishment of new opportunities with alternate clients, proposal development and writing support, and maintaining a presence at marketing and business development meetings/conferences
  • Must be able to do extended deskwork at a computer
  • Must be able to stand for several hours at a time to perform lab work
  • Must be able to wear standard PPE (e.g., mask, gloves, lab coat) for extended periods of time.

Desired Skills:

Candidates with the following additional qualifications will receive preference:

  • Graduation from a recognized Tier 1 research university program
  • Experience and/or knowledge of emerging technologies for bio threat agent analysis
  • Experience and/or knowledge of synthetic biology (e.g., site-directed mutagenesis, CRISPR, etc.)

 Primary Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will support Signature Science projects involving:

  • Providing technical support involving research and development efforts (including laboratory work)
  • Working collaboratively within the biological sciences business area and across business units
  • Development and/or execution of test plans
  • Providing training on molecular biology and/or microbiology topics including sample collection/analysis/threat-agent production
  • Identifying and researching new and emerging technologies for bio threat agent analysis, and providing recommendations on platforms or instrumentation regarding their suitability for specific client applications


This position may require irregular hours, to include work on weekends or after regular business hours. This position may require domestic travel.

 Clearance Status:

This position requires that the candidate be willing and able to complete a successful background screening for a security clearance. Candidates with an active security clearance will receive preference.
