 Position Summary:   The incumbent professional will be responsible for implementing and monitoring necessary systems, procedures, and processes to promote compliance activities throughout the company. The incumbent will perform difficult and complex duties related to the review and application of changes to various regulations, with an overall goal of ensuring compliance with these regulations. Performance of all job duties is intended to be completed under limited direct supervision of the supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists relevant staff within the company with managing of regulatory affairs, including coordination, planning, implementation, oversight, auditing, and monitoring, as appropriate, of systems, procedures, and processes.
  • Researches new or changed regulations, and provides expert advice with the goal of ensuring company-wide compliance with contractual requirements and federal and state government reporting and regulations.
  • Responsible for production of assigned regulatory deliverables, reports, and ad hoc requests.
  • Responsible for oversight of intellectual property compliance and reporting, including monitoring of patent applications.
  • Responsible for oversight of compliance with export regulations.
  • Assists Corporate Health & Safety Director with oversight of the staff hazardous materials and dangerous goods certification and training program.
  • Assists Contracts & Procurement Manager and executive management with policy analysis, and makes recommendations to change and/or improve processes consistent with compliance with relevant state and federal regulations and guidelines.
  • Serves as a staff resource for issues related to regulatory requirements and compliance issues.

 Education/Experience: Incumbent must have a graduate degree in law and four years of prior related professional experience.

Language Ability: Incumbent must be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English. Incumbent must be able to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, government regulations, and legal documents, write effective correspondence for both internal and external consumption, and speak effectively before groups of employees, clients, or vendors.

Math Ability: Incumbent must possess the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages, and have a mastery of basic arithmetic.

Reasoning Ability: Incumbent must possess sound reasoning skills and regularly show ability to learn and interpret complex technical rules, regulations, and instructions. Incumbent must be able to solve practical problems dealing with a variety of concrete variables with limited guidance from the supervisor and with great attention to detail.

Computer Skills:Incumbent must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products, specifically Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word

Certificates and Licenses: Current license to practice law in the State of Texas is required.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilities.

  • The incumbent will work in a general office environment with general office equipment available.
  • The incumbent will establish as regular schedule with the supervisor to ensure necessary coverage within the department.
