Bachelor's Degree in mathematics, data science, statistics, computer science or related field; Minor in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, or other Life Sciences Preferred

Years of Experience/Skills:
The successful candidate will have at least one year, and preferably five years, of data management, data evaluation experience, computer science, or software engineering experience.  Must be proficient in at least one programming language, with preference for R, Python, Pandas, Javascript, C, C#, C++.  Experience with Oracle, Access, and/or SQL, and experience with a variety of hardware and operating systems is desired.
Candidate should have training and should be capable of assisting in the development and implementation of data receipt, data management, data evaluation, and data dissemination processes. Experience with software development methodologies and processes (e.g., Agile/scrum processes, Git version control) and experience and training in software testing is desirable.
The candidate must be able to work in a team environment, troubleshoot technical problems, demonstrate independent problem solving skills, be resourceful in obtaining information, and have demonstrated experience successfully completing tasks to a definitive deadline. Candidates possessing experience and familiarity with life science disciplines (e.g., chemistry, biology) and/or experience with analytical laboratory data management and data mining will receive preference.

Primary Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be based in Austin, Texas.
The candidate will support numerous research and development projects related to public safety, defense and national security. This will include interpretation, integration, transformation, loading, documentation and reporting of data sets and data elements from multiple sources according to specific project requirements as well as computer science support to the research, development, and test and evaluation of tools or algorithms that support rapid, accurate and automated analysis and reporting of complex biological, chemical or other data sets.
The candidate must be motivated to contribute in a team environment and collaborate across multiple scientific and technical disciplines. The candidate must have the flexibility to balance multiple on-going tasks while operating efficiently with minimal supervision. 
Activities and responsibilities may include:
  • Develop, review, debug programs to analyze and summarize data to support interpretation and decision-making.
  • Code and debug programs or applications or make modifications to existing programs or applications.
  • Develop, document and/or implement application test plans and program validation.
  • Review code and data output.
  • Design and implement software modules and interfaces among applications or databases.
  • Develop and maintain program and application documentation.
Domestic travel may be required.
