Position Summary:
Our multi-disciplinary technical team is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to fill a key role on a groundbreaking research and development project. Our work exists at the intersection of science and engineering, and we focus on the development and fielding of complex electromechanical products.

Required Skills:

  • At least 5 years of experience programming data acquisition/control systems, laboratory equipment, test stands, and microcontroller based hardware.
  • Experience with LabVIEW, or similar graphical programming environment, and embedded C or similar firmware language.
  • EE experience including hands-on building, testing, and debugging circuit cards and data acquisition hardware.
  • Must have the ability to review and interpret electrical schematics and circuit board layout designs.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 15% to client and third-party locations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers to define electrical hardware, wiring, and firmware/software requirements for research and development type programs.
  • Design firmware/software and control system architecture for a range of electro-mechanical assemblies from simple to complex. Knowledge of data acquisition and/or control for pumps, blowers, flow meters, heaters, thermocouples, RTDs, motors, and solenoids.
  • Work independently, or with small teams, to program, test, and debug data acquisition and control systems, test stands, embedded microprocessor prototypes, and production hardware.
  • Work with other electrical engineers and board layout experts to review schematics, and provide input for circuit card design.
  • Write and review technical documentation including block diagrams, test plans, and software manuals.
  • Communicate with, and provide training for, non-engineer users of custom designed firmware/software.
  • Solder and fabricate basic wiring harnesses, test rigs, and control systems.
  • Adhere to ESD requirements when handling sensitive hardware.

This position requires that the candidate be willing and able to complete a successful background screening for a security clearance. Candidates with an active security clearance will receive preference.
